The NAACP, along with our half-million adult and youth members throughout the United States, are frontline advocates committed to raising awareness for political, educational, social and economic equality of minority group citizens in the electoral process. With approximately 2,200 adult branches, youth councils, and college chapters in 49 states, 5 countries and the District of Columbia, the NAACP is actively engaged in increasing the African American responsiveness of citizens to be fully engaged in the democratic process.

LIST OF COMMITTEES

Education

This committee seeks to eliminate segregation and other discriminatory practices in public and private education. We study local educational conditions affecting minority groups.

We seek to familiarize ourself with textbook material , seek to stimulate school attendance and keep informed of school conditions while striving to correct abuse where found.

Membership

This Committee works throughout the year to maintain and increase the memberships of the Association. They plan and organize membership campaigns.

Legal Redress

Political Action

The Political Action Committee seets to increase voter's registration, education and voting. It works to improve the educationa, political and ecomomic legislation and the administration ofjustice.

Freedom Fund

The Freedom Fund Committee plans and conducts fundraising, entertainment and other projects for local and national purposes

Labor and Industry

Works to end discriminatory practices in employment practices and in the labor unions. This commitee is working for improved opportunities in vocational and apprenticeship training.

Health

This committee works to promoted, protect and maintain the health of African Americans. We sponsor health-related activities such as health forums, fairs and workshops highlighting issues of importance to people of color and support health initiatives of the Association.
